Representative Tyrone Yates

Rep. Tyrone Yates
Representative Yates is the sponsor of H.B. 572, which will help end the dangerous situation that has developed regarding tobacco prevention and cessation in Ohio. His bill would correct the inequity between the other tobacco products tax, which covers non-cigarette tobacco products like little cigars, cigars and smokeless tobacco, and the cigarette tax. Doing so would reduce the increasing use of these products, especially among young people and disproportionately impacted populations like African-Americans and Appalachian Ohioans.
The bill would also dedicate the tax revenue to tobacco prevention and cessation programs, generating enough revenue to replace the tobacco prevention and cessation programs that were canceled statewide on June 30, 2008.
Thank Representative Yates for all he has done:

Sen. Joseph Schiavoni
Senator Schiavoni is supporting our push to correct the inequity that exists between the other tobacco products tax and the cigarette tax and use the tax revenue to fund the important youth in school prevention programs, cessation programs to help smokers quit, and other important programs that will help reduce Ohioans’ tobacco-related tax burden.
